Thing’s That don’t Matter

Hi! My name is Brother Thurman. The Scriptures say that being wise is to have senses that can be exercised to discern good and evil and be right. Hebrews 5:11-14 The Bible says that the more we know of “it,” (the Bible) the wiser we become. The wiser we become, the more our senses can be used to tell what right and wrong is. This is the Scriptural formula for Good and Evil, and how to be right when deciding what is right and wrong. There is one other factor that determines our wisdom. You know what that is? It is being able to tell what “DOES NOT MATTER!!!” Everything in life does not have to come to good and evil. They are the things that “DON”T MATTER.” This, my friend is where the world, the flesh and the Devil are thriving. Believe it or not there are some things in your life that are not worthy of the attention you give them because they frankly “DON”T MATTER!” Yourself, the world, the flesh and the Devil are driving you nuts and wasting your life away over worthless things that “DO NOT MATTER.” Perhaps some of the things listed in this room will help you to realize that there are things in our lives here on earth that are wasting us away with thing’s “THAT DON’T MATTER!” The Lord will help us to rid our lives of things that don’t matter if we will come to Him in Sincerity and Truth. Turn to the Lord. He is “..a very present help in trouble.” Psalms 46:1 Ready? The Hard Stuff! Things that DON”T MATTER!

Your retirement. Live day by day. You can live that way and be happy. Trust the Lord. You nor anybody else cannot plan for your future. If you could you wouldn’t be struggling to figure it out. Be content with what you have. Owe no man anything. You don’t hear of people glorifying retirement, you hear of them worrying about it.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”

1 Timothy 6:6-8

“And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:16-21

It Doesn’t Matter

How your body looks. It’s going back to the dust. Why are you adorning and putting gold on a corpse? You know how the Bible describes the sinful fleshly body of a human being? “VILE.” Your body is supposed to be drawing respect and admiration only as the Temple of the Holy Ghost. Advertising that body (flesh) is like trying to sell someone a used garbage can. Walk in that body in a respectable manner before the Lord.

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” Philippians 3:20-21

“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8

It doesn’t matter.

Your credit scores. Your credit score is not a reflection on your character. It is a gauge of how likely others can make money off you. Do you really think anyone cares about what your credit score is, except those that can profit off it? Stop loving money and chasing the credit score carrot! Pay off your bills and live without debt as best you can. Be interested in your spiritual score.

“And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:8-10

“Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:7-8

It doesn’t matter.

The car you drive. Do you really include your car into your character rating? What foolishness. Its bolts and nuts and plastic and an opportunity for others to make money off you. No matter how vain you become in lying to yourself that you are a better person because of your car, it will still leave you stranded and walking if you don’t put gas in it. Insurance companies love you thinking you are something in that expensive bucket of bolts. It’s going to rust and rot away. Be more concerned about what your heart looks like than that vain piece of junk you put so much of your hard earned money into. Jesus Christ chose a “Jackass’ colt” for His transportation while here on earth. All the other times, He walked! What does that tell you?

“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is
wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.” Proverbs 11:2-4

“Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is
perverse in his lips, and is a fool.” Proverbs 19:1

It Doesn’t Matter

You’re Fashion. Good-will clothes cover up that vile body just as good as your expensive nonsense.  Your clothes or the lack thereof do serve a purpose and the major one is to cover you. Fashion is what it is called, and is vain as every other thing the world lies to you about. The fashion of this world passeth away folks. If you think you are a better person or have more favor with God because you are “in vogue,” you are mistaken. Truth be known, your expensive fashion you think makes you look like such a wonderful person will probably end up a “grease rag.” The Lord says modest apparel will do fine.

“And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of
this world passeth away.” 1 Corinthians 7:31

It Doesn’t Matter

Your  popularity. Don’t fool yourself. You should know that the only real people that think anything of you are the ones that are there in times of trouble and suffering. All your good time, good feeling crowd that you put so much stock in will abandon you at the drop of a hat. Do you really subscribe to think that everyone that crosses your path really takes enough notes of you to remember you for the rest of their lives? You’re going to die knowing very little of the earth’s population and even less that care. Don’t you know that? How many people that you try so hard to impress do you really trust? Hmm? Be as genuine, honest, God-Fearing, upright, sincere person as you can to the people that you come in contact with in your short life and stop worrying about what all the others think. Most don’t even notice. Be who you are ‘before the Lord,’ and the ones that matter will take note. Don’t be a fakir! The Lord say’s ‘of low estate’ and ‘humility.’

“Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.” Romans 12:16

“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.” Proverbs 18:12

It Doesn’t Matter

You’re Race. All races no matter who, are going to stand before God and will have no special privileges. All races are flesh and all flesh burns. Do you think the different races that are in Hell are arguing over race privileges? The answer is no! Burning is burning. God’s favor comes only through His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Your race might work to help you out for a little while here on earth but only if the ones that are favoring you still like you. God is no respecter of persons. Don’t put any stock in your race. It will fail you. Don’t be proud or ashamed of your race, God isn’t. You know there are good and evil of all people, don’t you?

“Death is a real leveler! There(at and after death) all class, racial and social distinctions cease.” ~PSR~

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the
books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the
book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which
were written in the books, according to their works.” Revelation 20:12

It Doesn’t Matter

Your education. The only education that the word of God values is that of truth. If you are trying to get knowledge to fill your bank account you are wasting your time. Aren’t you? What has chasing education for money gotten you so far? Farther away from God and deeper in debt! There are things that you should not find out and mostly being lies. Educational lie’s are only profitable while the lie kitty ($$$) persists then you must reeducate to keep up your income, Right? Godliness is profitable in all. Quit wasting your life and effort on falsehoods. Follow what is right and good. That is profitable. The education god is a liar and will betray you every time. True knowledge comes from God.

“Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every
false way.” Psalms 119:104

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all
thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7

“How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get
understanding rather to be chosen than silver!” Proverbs 16:16

“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.” Daniel 2:21-22

It Doesn’t Matter

Your opinion. That is all an opinion is. An opinion. You can scream as loud as you want and torture people to death to make them here your opinion but you cannot make them respect your opinion unless you are right and good. Being in the middle of an argument is not expression of opinion. Warring wills is not respecting different opinions. The truth is your opinion really does not mean squat to anyone if it is not good and just. That’s why you have to have a lot of people to congregate to try to have their opinions heard, because it has to be LOUDER. Louder does not mean truer. Submit your opinions before God before you submit them before people. Otherwise, study to be quiet and mind your own business. Do you think that people’s opinions in Hell are being heard? Their screaming much louder than all the important opinions here on earth are.

It Doesn’t Matter

Your Politics. Folks listen! God (the God of the Bible,) does not give one flip about political stands that anyone takes for any reason in any circumstance if it does not line up with His word. He is running eternity! Is that clear? Politics in the world today has absolutely nothing to do with doing the right thing with dignity and God-fearing decision making. If you don’t know it already, it stands for who gets the biggest slice of the pie, and who decides who gets to divvy it out and how. Don’t you know that? You now have the highest office in the land in the last 10 years at least, that has been tied up in court battles for corruption of all forms, moral and political. You have Congress, the ones that are supposed to be representing the people, asking questions to nominees for the offices of Judges, whether they believe a man can be a woman and vise-versa. How could a question or subject of that sort ever even arrive there? You think God is spending any of His thinking time on that nonsense? He is laughing at it, the same way the world is laughing at it. America’s politics is shameful and should be ashamed. The God of the Bible is no longer welcome in your political hierarchy. Christian (or anyone else reading this,) you are to be making decision based solely on what God’s word say’s and putting your trust in Him and Him alone. God is going to deal with you on the decisions you make according to your relationship with Him and your sincerity concerning right and wrong. Not your political preferences. You are to listen to the powers that be with a “spiritual ear” not a political one. Vote in front of the Lord.

It Doesn’t Matter

Your Net Worth. If you think that being able to say, or even wanting to say you have such and such amount of worth (money or whatever) makes you better than someone else or of more value than someone else, you have and are making a fool out of yourself and are caught up in some fairytale idea. You are choosing to live in la-la land, and care more about impressing others with vanity rather than being a authentic, genuine caring individual and thankful. Don’t you know that? Even if you do have a lot of monetary value, you are being foolish and stupid to flaunt it because your making yourself a target. The people that really care about you don’t care about your money. The people that don’t care about you are the ones concerned about your money. You should be thankful and content with what you have and understand that it can change over night and all be gone. Then what are you going to brag about, “being poor?” Hmm? Don’t be a fool, if you have things of value, that means you are blessed, and should be thankful, not that you are special and should be worshipped. Get it right!

It Doesn’t Matter

Your Degree. Listen folks, Earning a degree from ANY college or university cannot: Give you any brains or common sense; Show you how to get along with people or handle people; Enable you to get a job unless you have “contacts”; Make you happy or keep you sane; Prepare you for death or judgment; Guarantee a successful career in any line; Keep you from becoming a chronic alcoholic, embezzler, jail bird, drug addict, or a suicide. The second major cause of death among college students (after car wrecks) is suicide, and the highest rate of suicides for any profession is among college educated psychiatrists. ~PSR~ Look it up! Having a degree is not sinful in itself unless you learn the things that do not line up with God’s word. For instance!
